Beach Trip

Well, we're home now after a week long stay at the beach! We've been back for several days, but I'm just now getting around to posting pictures. We all had a wonderful time. The weather was terrific; sunny & low 80's the first couple of days, then in the 70's the rest of the week. We had one cool day, but that granted me the opportunity to get the cute picture of the boys in their blue hoodies. Although I'm a tad behind on blogging, I have already managed to send an email to lots of family & friends with 60 beach pictures. If you received the email, then you're probably about to see a bunch of repeats. But if there are any readers who did not receive it, then brace yourself for a small barrage of pictures.
I took 200 pictures during our trip, and after much deliberation, have somehow managed to choose just a sampling of photos for you to peruse.
By the way, boys, if you're reading this blog one day, Mommy really was on this beach trip with you. I know it's tough to tell since I'm not in any of the 200 pictures, but I promise I played in the sand with you, took walks (and impromptu jogs as you laughingly ran away from me), chased you down the beach with my camera, got drenched playing in the ocean with you, and smiled so much watching you, that at times my face started to hurt. I'm glad you both love the beach as much as I do.
Without further ado, here are some pictures of my two adorable boys. You may want to shield your eyes because the cuteness can be blinding.

We arrived close to 6 p.m., went into the house just long enough to carry our stuff in, then headed right out to the beach. The tide was so high that we only stayed out a few minutes. Just long enough for the ocean to soak Jeff's sneakers. Who wears socks & shoes out on the beach, anyway? Lesson learned, right, Jeff?

Our first full day on the beach! The boys loved the beach toys, and fortunately, we had two of just about every single one.

I was a little worried that Alex wasn't going to be a beach bum like me & Jacob. On our first evening, he refused to walk in the sand, and only wanted to be held. But as soon as I showed him what to do with a shovel & a bucket, he only had eyes for the sand and beach toys the rest of the week.

Jacob couldn't stay away from the ocean this year. He loved running and splashing in it. He also enjoyed sitting right where the waves were breaking. "Mommy! The water is spankin' my butt!"

Aunt Kerri & Uncle Matt were only at the beach with us for a few days. We wished they could stay longer, but we enjoyed their company. No pictures of Uncle Matt either, but I can vouch for his presence.

When Alex is a little older, he'll let Jacob hold his hand. But for now, I think a little wrist holding is precious. Notice they're both wearing Spiderman bathing suits.

Alex on one of his many, many walks along the beach.

My 3 boys. Jacob insisted on accessorizing with Alex's hat.

Jacob & Jeff posing with pride in front of their completed sand castle. I only wish I had a decent shot that captured it in all its true glory. Jeff was very meticulous during its construction.

A large "army truck" (as Jacob referred to it, and I don't have a better name for it ) drove on the beach one afternoon. Jacob waved, and the driver motioned us over. He invited Jacob to come stand on the truck so I could take a picture. Will I ever pass up a photo op? What a nice guy!

I just love that Alex looks like he needed to walk alone and clear his head after a stressful morning of playing, snacking, and napping.

Alex loving on Nan (my mom). He's such an affectionate little guy, just like his big brother.

Alex & Pop Pop (my dad) sharing a little smooch.

Jacob acting as my personal trainer and encouraging me to get some exercise by chasing after him.

My friend/former coworker lives near the beach, and decided to come by one afternoon with her daughter, Bella, for a visit. We had a great time with them!

Bella didn't want to make Alex jealous after holding hands with Jacob, so she gave Alex a little attention too.

Jeff's longtime best friend and his family joined us at the beach one afternoon. Jacob & Victor had a blast playing together on the beach.

More deep thoughts. Maybe I'm raising a future philosopher.

Running, playing, and taking long walks on the beach caught up with Alex. Luckily, Daddy didn't mind snuggling with him.

The Shark Attack Store. Jacob believed me when I acted afraid of entering the shark's mouth which led to the store's entrance. He reassured me, saying, "Mommy dat shark is atend (pretend). It will not eat you."

Nan & Jacob

The aforementioned hoodie pic. I love it. I know some of you understand the thrill of managing to get not one, but TWO small kids to look in the direction of the camera and smile at the SAME time! And this only took one try!

One of my current favorite pictures. So sweet.

Thanks, Mom & Dad, for inviting us to stay with you. We had such a fun vacation!
